CVS Health announced multiple changes in its leadership team on Monday, including that Shawn Guertin, CVS’ chief financial officer and president of health services, will take a leave of absence for family health reasons.
The leadership shuffle comes a month after CVS appointed Guertin as president of its health services segment — which includes primary care provider Oak Street Health and home care company Signify Health — amid a larger corporate restructuring.
Tom Cowhey, senior vice president of corporate finance, will step into the role of interim CFO during Guertin’s absence, according to a press release.
Cowhey joined CVS in early 2022 after previously serving as CFO of Surgery Partners. Before that, he worked at insurer Aetna in strategy and finance positions, before it was acquired by CVS.
The company also announced on Monday that Mike Pykosz, CEO of recently acquired Oak Street, has been named interim president of health services. Pykosz officially joined the pharmacy and retail giant in May this year after CVS closed its $10.6 billion purchase of Oak Street. He’ll take on the president role in addition to his current duties, according to a CVS spokesperson.
The company announced its corporate restructuring plan in August when it reported its profit fell 37% year over year in the second quarter.
CVS will report third quarter results on Nov. 1.
