-
Giles joined the firm's Australian branch as a managing director in 1996 and has held positions across business lines in Australia, Singapore and Japan.
Dive Insight:
JPMorgan Chase is one of the more diverse banks when it comes to C-suite leadership. The firm's CFO, Jennifer Piepszak, took over from Marianne Lake in 2019 when Lake was promoted to CEO of Chase's consumer lending business, the memo said.
Giles' appointment results in the firm's two largest divisions being led by women CFOs. The other division, consumer and community banking, has been overseen by Sarah Youngwood as CFO since 2016.
Giles replaces Jeremy Barnum, who moves to head of global research. He has been CFO and chief of staff of the corporate and investment bank since 2013 and will now lead Wall Street's leading research organization, the memo said.
Derek Waldron will assume the corporate and investment bank chief of staff role in addition to other positions.
Representatives for Giles declined to comment.
