Dive Brief:
-
Virtual care provider Doctor On Demand last week named Nick Lanzi its new CFO.
-
Lanzi will lead the company's financial and operational capabilities, supporting its growth across health plans and employers, it shared in the release.
-
"My belief in the [virtual health care] space, and seeing how Covid-19 has acted as a catalyst for it ... were both large drivers in my decision to join Doctor On Demand," Lanzi said. "I believe Doctor On Demand has a truly differentiated offering, and is positioned for long term success given its high-quality standards."
Dive Insight:
"The two most valuable things I will be able to leverage from my prior experience at Aetna are my knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem, along with the best practices that larger public companies deploy that can benefit a private, growth-oriented company like Doctor On Demand as it matures through its lifecycle," Lanzi said.
"I'm thrilled to welcome Nick to the team, and look forward to seeing the leadership he'll bring to our organization's financial operations as we look toward our next stage of growth," Doctor On Demand CEO Hill Ferguson said in a statement.
"The pandemic has accelerated virtual care's adoption in ways we never could have anticipated," Lanzi said. "I'm thrilled to be joining an organization that is deeply committed to making virtual, whole person healthcare more accessible."
Lanzi spent nearly six years at Aetna, most recently as its Mid-Atlantic CFO. He joined Aetna's corporate development team in 2015 as senior manager, a role in which he was responsible for mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and venture investments.
Lanzi later became CFO of Aetna International's America's Region, before landing as Commercial & Medicare business CFO in 2019.
Prior to Aetna, Lanzi held senior corporate development, finance and M&A leadership roles at investment banking and advisory firm Moorgate Partners and tech company Mav6.
"I am a firm believer in a CFO being a strategic partner to the business, and I'm very encouraged and supported by the management team here at Doctor On Demand in being that strategic partner," Lanzi said.
